Emergency Appeal
Help Peru’s flood victims
At the end of January, unusually heavy rains severely affected Peru, predominantly the Cusco region. Rivers burst their banks and landslides washed away homes and farmland.
It is estimated that 25,000 people have been left homeless, and 14,000 hectares of agricultural land have been destroyed, taking away the livelihoods of thousands. With global efforts currently focusing on relief work in Haiti, the devastating flood damage in Peru has largely been undocumented and few appeals to the general public have been made. Peru’s most vulnerable people need our help, now.
Journey Latin America is helping with the relief work in the region by donating funds to the LATA Foundation. The LATA Foundation is receiving donations and administering funds to specific projects in Peru, including rebuilding schools, homes and livelihoods.
