This country property lies 90km north of Quito, on the outskirts of San Pablo del Lago, just south of the unmissable market town of Otavalo.
Founded in 1602, it is one of the oldest haciendas in Ecuador. The attractive buildings sit in a tropical, flower-filled garden, plants climb voraciously up the whitewashed walls trimmed with delicate tiles and capped with a traditional tiled roof.
Rooms are furnished in the colonial style, some with private balconies. Scattered around the grounds are seven rustic cottages, and an annex with 27 modestly decorated rooms has been added.
Our comment
"If we had to pick one thing that makes this hacienda stand out from all the rest it would have to be its gardens, a cornucopia of colour." Katie Phillips, Consultant, Tailor-made Tours |
