Hotel Santa Clara - Cartagena, Colombia
The Hotel Santa Clara is a beautifully restored hotel located in the heart of the old walled, colonial city of Cartagena, a world heritage site and an excellent place to soak up the laid-back atmosphere of the Caribbean.
Originally built as a Convent in the early 17th century, it was converted into a first class hotel around 10 years ago and today is considered the best in Cartagena.
40 Minutes from Cartagena by motor boat are the famous Rosario Islands. Declared a National Park, this string of coral islets is ideal for a day or two to relax on the beach, swim and snorkel. Isla Majagua run by Hotel Santa Clara, can be visited as a day-trip. Facilities there include 16 bungalows.
"Cartagena has had a face-lift since my last visit ten years ago. There is so much to do within and outside of the city walls."
