Location
Termas de Puyuhuapi is located in the Lake District of Chilean Patagonia. It stands on a rocky beach facing Dorito Bay on the Ventisquero Sound and in total isolation. The sense of peace is overwhelming.
Access is usually by plane to Puerto Montt, from where you fly to Balmaceda. There is a 5-hour drive to the hotel mainly on a gravel all purpose road via Coyhaique. Finally a motorboat crosses the lagoon (10 minutes) to Termas de Puyuhuapi Hotel & Spa.
From mid September to the end of April, the hotel can be reached via a 5-hour catamaran journey through the Austral Fjords from Puerto Chacabuco.
Things to do
Fly fishing (by wading) can be arranged. Also a nearby trout farm can be visited.
Enjoy the hotel's spa and thalassotherapy centre that offers fitness, relaxation, cosmetic, and anti-stress treatments. Alternatively, the three natural thermal pools close by are ideal to unwind under the stars after a day's activities.
The surrounding forest offers rewarding walking opportunities and wildlife spotting, particularly birdwatching. Kayaks are available to take out onto the lake. The Hanging Glacier is a short boat ride away, and Puerto Puyuhuapi is renowned for its handmade carpets.
