Accommodation at this appealing lodge is in a traditional 1920's two-storey wooden farmhouse, smartly painted in white and green. The bright, airy bedrooms are simply decorated and furnished.
This area is difficult to access by land, so the likelihood of seeing unusual wildlife is greater than on the basin's deforested margins. It's also possible to walk around the surrounding area where tuiuiu storks, rheas and hyacinth macaws often congregate.
Flights (one hour) are from Campo Grande and usually by light aircraft, leaving from an airstrip near the main city airport.
Our comment
"We consider it well worth the effort and additional expense required to get to this undisturbed, out-of-the-way lodge deep in the southern reaches of the Pantanal." |
