The Amazon Village is a purpose-built ‘ecological lodge', 3 hours by motorised canoe downstream from Manaus, then upstream on the banks of the Puraqucuara River, a small tributary of the Amazon.
Each of the 45 rooms, in 21 thatched wooden bungalows, has a verandah with hammock and en suite cold-water facilities.
Communal areas include an al fresco restaurant serving fresh local dishes, a reception lounge with comfy sofas and large sun-deck. The lodge has limited electricity provided by its own generator.
There are sunrise and sunset excursions by canoe into jungle lagoons and creeks, depending on the number of nights' stay.
