Situated close to the north coast of central Cuba there is a cluster of tiny islands linked to the mainland by a scenic 48km causeway.
Cayo Las Brujas is the first of these, brimming with wildlife and surrounded by turquoise waters and coral reefs. Virtually untouched until the 1990s, the area has been earmarked as a major tourism project for the future.
The hotel is set on a coral-white secluded beach and has 24 air-conditioned rustic wooden cabins, with sunny balconies overlooking the sea.
There is a restaurant serving simple meat and seafood dishes, and a nearby marina where catamaran, diving and fishing excursions can be arranged.
Our comment
"Understated paradise; proof that sometimes the simple things in life can be the best. Don't expect to find this style of accommodation included in a high street 'package deal'." |
