The Mini Inca Trail

Shorter version of the Inca trail for those short on time

Tourist class hotel
Daily from Cusco
2 days, 1 night

Catch an early morning train from Cusco before alighting at Km 104 and beginning your trek to Machu Picchu.

The trail climbs gradually but steadily up the vast sides of the Urubamba canyon with wonderful views of sparkling ice-capped mountains beyond.

A few hours’ walking brings you to the fine Inca site of Wiñay Wayna, with its well-preserved temple buildings, terraces and fountains.

With the hard work out of the way you now join the final section of the classic Inca Trail, winding its way through humid cloud forest to the Intipunku, or Gate of the Sun, from where you have your first breathtaking views of Machu Picchu.

Following a night in a hotel below the ruins, you will have a guided tour of the site and return to Cusco on the afternoon train.

Our Comment

"If you do not have the time or energy to do the full Inca trail, this is a good alternative way of arriving at Machu Picchu on foot." Adrian Gallop, Group Tours Department

How about an alternative trail?
