Daily from Panama City
4 days, 3 nights
This is a real adventure for wildlife lovers. You will enter the Punta Nature Reserve overlooking the Gulf of San Juan by expedition boat along a mangrove-fringed river populated by bottle-nosed dolphins. 2 nights are based at a simple lodge, on the last night, you have the option of camping. There are jungle hikes, including one at dusk to view capybara, caimans and owls, and trails through rare tropical dry forest.
On the final day you will arrive at the indigenous village at Mogue and be shown the harpy eagle nest nearby. Should you have the good fortune to spot the rare bird (great care is taken not to disturb it), you will appreciate its 2m wingspan and claws the size of a grizzly bear’s. |
