Panama
San Blas Islands - going native
Panama Caribbean coast
Daily from Panama City
3 days, 2 nights
The isolated San Blas Islands are home to the Kuna indians, whose culture has been remarkably preserved in modern times. They organise their way of life with total autonomy: land is communally owned and local laws are enforced.
You will be staying in Kuna-style thatched, bamboo huts, lit by lanterns, and served communal meals. There will be ample opportunity to witness traditional ceremonies, and hike through forests of fruit trees – mango, cocoa, plantain. You can snorkel, or relax on the sugar-white sand beach.
How about?
Combining this itinerary with a visit to the National Park of Darién. The park is vast and great for nature lovers who want to get off the beaten track (please enquire). | Read more about: Panamanian jungle and islands
