Itinerary
Day 1 Fly from the UK to Panama City.
Day 2 Full or partial transit Saturdays: (full transits are twice a month) of the Panama Canal which passes through the continental divide.
Days 3&4 City tour, including a visit to the Panama Canal Museum On to Gamboa for 2 nights at a well-appointed resort, with a jungle boat cruise and expedition in the rainforest canopy.
Day 5&6 Bird-watching and nature hike within the tropical Soberania National Park with excellent interpretive trails. Fly to David and continue by road to the western slopes of the Baru Volcano for 2 nights: tour of the rainforest in La Amistad International Park; a mountainous reserve which straddles the border with Costa Rica, and visit an orchid farm.
Day 7 Continue around the volcano to Boquete for 1 night.
Day 8 Hiking in the Finca Lerida. Scenic drive from the cloudforest to Bocas del Toro on the Caribbean coast, then by boat to an inn on Colon Island, where a protected bay offers water-sports.
Days 9-11 Snorkel among the coral reefs and relax on the white sand beaches and mangrove islands of Bastimentos Marine Park. A full day tour of local islands and beaches is included.
Day 12 Fly to Panama City for return flight to the UK arriving day 13.
