Trekking the Copper Canyon

There is a real sense of achievement in completing this vigorous trek, with basic camping facilities and pack-mules across remote and challenging terrain. Take the train for an intoxicating 4 hour ride through the Copper Canyon then descend by winding road to Urique. Next day, set off on foot to climb along the old mining route, the Camino Real. Camp at the first of three Tarahuamara communities at which you will be staying. Ascend through the valleys of the canyon network, with views in to the Urique Canyon, to arrive at your camp. Cross the mountains to the neighbouring canyon, Batopilas, and begin to descend, arriving at Batopilas town the following day. Overnight in a hotel. Return to Creel to take the train back to El Fuerte.
