As you leave the capital and head into the highlands, you see women in their distinctive traditional blouses and men sporting thick woollen tunics, the unique designs and colours identifying their home village or district.
Itinerary
Days 1&2 Drive to Antigua where preservation orders have ensured that this magnifi cent town has retained its colonial character.
Day 3 Drive to Panajachel on the shores of Lake Atitlán, flanked by fuming volcanoes casting everchanging shadows over the water.
Day 4 Excursion by launch to the lakeside village of Santiago Atitlán.
Day 5 Drive to Chichicastenango’s huge handicraft market; crowded, chaotic, a pageant of brightly-dyed textiles, of bells and incense.
Day 6 Return to Guatemala City.
Day 7 Return to airport.
