Tourist Class Yacht - MV Galápagos Sky

8 day cruise from £3,675

Dive cruise around the Galápagos Islands

F
rom Guayaquil or Quito to San Cristóbal
Sundays, 8 days

Custom-designed for diving, this is a 30m motor yacht with capacity for 16 passengers. Accommodation consists of eight comfortable staterooms located on two decks. Each cabin has two twin beds, window or port light view. Her interior features teak panelling and furnishings, a dining area, bar, and a main saloon.

On deck, ample space is allocated for personal dive gear storage, a photo and video film lab, light tables, daily E-6 processing, and open sun-deck. Zodiacs are used to ferry you between dive sites and the anchored yacht.

M/V Galapagos Sky, (formerly Sky Dancer) 7 night itinerary offers a total of approximately 19 dives and 4 land excursions, and covers 565.5 nautical miles of ocean. It has only one very long navigation (15 hours from Wolf to North Seymour).  Tender diving is the rule rather than the exception. There will be up to four dives per day including night dives at Wolf and Darwin.  The first two days and last two days will be a combination of shore excursions with 2-3 dives per day. Most dives are drift dives along the cliff faces of off-shore rocks and pinnacles.

Most underwater forays are drift dives. The M/V Galapagos Sky offers up to four dives per day. There are six crew and two dive instructors or dive master/naturalist.

Diving in the Galápagos

Strong currents, surge and cold waters make diving in the Galápagos difficult: but the dramatic undersea theatre is one of the most spectacular in the world.

To be comfortable diving here you will need to have at least 30 open water dives in your log book. Galápagos waters are full of large marine life: whale sharks, hammerheads and rays.

On these cruises diving, compressed air tanks, weights, weight belts, and guiding are included. At the time of going to press, discussions were taking place over the future of occasional diving in the Galápagos.

Cruise Itinerary

Recent changes to Galápagos National Park guidelines mean that cruise itineraries now vary greatly from departure to departure. The islands visited on each holiday will be determined by your departure date and the length of the cruise, so we no longer feature detailed itineraries on our Galápagos holiday cruise pages. Our travel consultants can provide you with detailed information about cruise itineraries that apply to your preferred dates, or see our Galapagos FAQ page for more information.
