Mondays or Wednesdays from Quito 3 days, 2 nights, 4 days, 3 nights, or 3 days, 2 nights Board the Chiva Express en route to Riobamba (Avenue of the Volcanoes).  Depending on your chosen length of stay, you will have horse-riding (suitable for beginners) and trekking excursions in the protected highlands skirting Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest peak (6310m). The area is speckled with the farms and villages of indigenous peoples who maintain a centuries-old way of life. The 3-day option returns to Quito from Riobamba, the 4-day variation continues with a train ride down the vertiginous ‘Devil’s Nose’ and on to the port of Guayaquil, while the 5-day trip also visits the Inca ruins at Ingapirca and ends at Cuenca with its harmonious colonial houses, museums and public buildings.
