Valle Nevado
Daily from Santiago from mid-June to end of September
One of Chile’s premier ski resorts just 90 minutes from the capital, Valle Nevado comprises 3 hotels with shared facilities and dozens of runs catering for winter sports’ enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
It is a lively place with a range of shops, a disco, and games room, but the slopes are pleasantly uncongested.
Instructors are particularly patient and friendly and the atmosphere is overall very relaxed. (If you stay 5 nights you are entitled to free group ski lessons, and in peak season there is a 7 night minimum stay).
Seasons
As a general rule low season runs from June to September/October. Mid season is early to mid-July, and August. High season is the second half of July.
Usually hotels prefer to sell a 7-night stay (though in low and mid seasons may accept shorter periods). It’s also possible to do a full day visit to the resorts close to Santiago, allowing about 5 hours’ skiing time. |
