Detailed Holiday ItineraryDay 1: Fly from Santiago to Easter Island. Spend 4 nights at a hotel in or near the village of Hanga Roa.
Day 2: A full-day shared tour will explore Rano Raraku, where the giant moai heads were carved out of the volcano's quarry. It is still possible to see stone heads in different stages of construction. Continue to Ahu Tongariki, the largest platform which has 15 moai. Finally, to Anakena where there is time to relax on the the pretty white sand beach and admire its own platform of moai statues.
Day 3: Half-day shared excursion to Rano Kao volcano with it impressive crater lake and the Orongo ceremonial centre, at the top of the crater where over 100 petroglyphs can be found. Each year the Bird Man cermony takes place here.
Day 4: Half day shared excursion to mysterious Ahu Akivi, where all the moai face the Pacific ocean. Continue to the Ana Tepahu caves and the Puna Pau quarry, where the Pukao (hairstyle) of the moai was carved.
