As in Britain, the lake district is surely one of the most sumptuously exquisite regions of Chile and Argentina, straddling the Andes. Fertile meadows are spotted with pine forests and craggy mountains; in Chile a chain of snow-capped vocanic cones dramatises the landscape. It makes for an extremely tranquil holiday
