Looking for a restful, low budget holiday in the Andes? The verdant lake district of Chile and Argentina straddles the Andean range and is an exquisite region of rural tranquillity. Book-ended by stays at the two cosmopolitan capitals, your holiday lets you relax and breathe the crisp mountain air while enjoying stupendous views. The lake crossing between the two countries is perhaps the most scenic journey in Latin America.

Suggested Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to hotel in Santiago, Chile. At leisure. Overnight.
Day 2: Fly/drive to Puerto Varas in the lake district. 3 nights.
Day 3: Excursion to Frutillar.
Day 4: Optional day trip to Chiloé Island.
Day 5: Drive/boat through the Andes to Bariloche (Argentina). Stay 3 nights.
Day 6: At leisure to explore the lake district.
Day 7: At leisure to explore the lake district.
Day 8: Fly to Buenos Aires. Stay 3 nights.
Day 9: Tango show with dinner.
Day 10: Free to explore the capital.
Day 11: Transfer to airport.

Owing to many clients' preference for flexibility, and the variation in flight price according to season and availability, the price quoted excludes the cost of international flights, which we will happily arrange for you. Flights to Latin America can be daytime or overnight, while the return flight is always overnight, so you will need to add at least one day to arrive at the total length of your holiday.

Our Comment

As in Britain, the lake district is surely one of the most sumptuously exquisite regions of Chile and Argentina, straddling the Andes. Fertile meadows are spotted with pine forests and craggy mountains; in Chile a chain of snow-capped vocanic cones dramatises the landscape. It makes for an extremely tranquil holiday
