9 days from £2,290The sunny north-western provinces of Salta and Jujuy are perfect for a walking holiday in Argentina. We’ve always loved this spectacular land of terracotta-coloured mountains peppered with giant cacti, extraordinary rock formations, sunlit vineyards and colonial towns. In startling contrast to Patagonia, Salta and Jujuy reveal flavours and colours of the high Andes in their cuisine and traditions.
Most of the walks on our new holiday in Salta and Jujuy are of just 2-3 hours' duration, leaving you with sufficient reserves to appreciate the region's other assets: superb wineries, historic treasures, museums, handicrafts and delicious food, unique in Argentina. And if you’ve time - and energy - to spare, why not continue to the Iguazu Falls or Chile’s Atacama Desert. Suggested Holiday ItineraryDay 1: Transfer to hotel in Buenos Aires.

Suitable for anyone who enjoys a good walk in the countryside: generally short, light treks (altitude around 3000 metres), sleeping in cosy local inns, with plenty of time to take in the culture, traditions and cuisine of this spectacular corner of Argentina. Come between April and October if you can: it's cooler, and usually dry and sunny at this time of the year.
