Holiday Itinerary
Days 1,2: Your hotel in Buenos Aires is the comfortable Regis, which has a convenient location right in the commercial centre. It’s within walking distance of the historic palaces of Plaza de Mayo, the restaurants of the trendy refurbished Puerto Madero, and antique markets and tango bars of San Telmo. Breakfast day 2 included.
Day 3: At leisure to explore the city further: You might like to visit the elegant barrio of Recoleta, and la Boca, the folksy Italian port district. Maybe a boat ride on the channels of the River Plate delta, or a day trip over the river to Uruguay! Breakfast included.
Day 4: Fly to Puerto Iguazú on the border with Brazil and Paraguay and on to Hotel Esturion, a ranch-style hotel with a large pool set in tropical gardens. There is a guided excursion to the Argentinean side of the Iguazú Falls: 275 separate waterfalls thunder over a towering rocky cliff into the river below. Follow the walkways through bird-filled rainforest above, below and behind the water. Breakfast included.
Days 5,6: Optional tour of the Brazilian side of the Falls. In addition, you could visit the bird-park, take part in adventure activities such as jeep rides, abseiling or boat trips; or tour the Itaipú Dam, one of the world’s largest. Breakfast included.
Day 7: Fly to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and you’ll be driven across town to legendary Copacabana. Your bright and modern hotel, the Oceano, is just a block from the beach. Breakfast included.
Day 8: Take a jeep tour through rainforest to visit the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer that sits atop Corcovado Mountain, and visit Santa Teresa, Rio’s oldest, most Bohemian quarter. Breakfast included.
Day 9: At leisure to discover Rio and its environs. There are plenty of optional English-speaking excursions to choose from, from a tour of the Maracanã stadium to a schooner trip down the island-studded coast or a cable-car ride up Sugar-Loaf Mountain. Breakfast included.
