Daily from Salta 4 days, 3 nights You will enjoy 3 full days of trekking over loose trails across sun-baked valleys and through arid gorges at altitudes of up to 3600m. This is real wilderness living – no creature comforts, but a humbling experience with mind-blowing distant views under the vast dome of a limpid sky. The first night is spent in a hotel at Cachí: en route  there will be an acclimatisation hike among the cacti of Los Cardones National Park. Next day, embark upon a 5-hour, 8km trek through the Pukamayu valley with views over the snow-drenched Cachí range, and camp. The hike of 14km on the third day takes you through scenery reminiscent of old cowboy movies, crossing rivers flowing through stark, harshly-eroded amber valleys. The final day’s trekking involves a steep trail crossing a pass at 2400m before descending to the Calchaquíes Valleys and driving back to Salta. Additional Information All equipment, except sleeping bag, is provided. Donkeys carry all equipment, you just carry your day pack. April-September - optimal season for dry weather. The nature of the terrain does degree a certain level of fitness.
