An alternative adventure tour of Chile for 2012, this holiday visits the better known sights of Patagonia, as well as the more remote. Offering good value for money, highlights of this 2 week escorted tour of Chile include Santiago and wineries, the lake district, the Carretera Austral and Torres del Paine.

Summary of nights: Santiago 1, Cochamó Valley 3; Puerto Varas 1, Puerto Natales 1, Torres del Paine 3, Santiago 1.

Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 Fly UK - Santiago, arriving next day.
Day 2 Walking tour of the city.
Day 3 Fly to Puerto Montt and drive south to the Cochamó Valley.
Days 4,5 Explore on foot, horseback and enjoy a boat trip on the fjords to see sea-lions and soak in thermal springs.
Day 6 Drive to Puerto Varas in the Lake District and visit the glacial Petrohué waterfalls and Osorno volcano.
Day 7 Drive and fly to Puerto Natales in southern Patagonia.
Days 8-10 Explore Torres del Paine National Park on foot or by boat.
Day 11 Return to Santiago.
Day 12 Fly to UK, arriving day 13.

Trip Profile

Transport: 3 flights (longest 4 hrs), 4 road journeys (longest 6 hrs).
Accommodation: Comfortable hotels and lodges with private bathroom; shared dormitory hostel in Torres del Paine where you need a sleeping bag although there may be some for hire locally.
Meals: Breakfast daily (except in Torres del Paine), lunch day 5, afternoon tea days 4-6.
Included excursions: walking tour of Santiago; Petrohué Falls; boat trip and other excursions at riverside lodge, lake district.
Group size: Min 4, max 16. Led by Journey Latin America tour leader.
