One of the most comprehensive group tours to Peru 2012, this holiday takes in the main sights of Peru along the coast, the Andes and in the jungle, and it dips into Bolivia. Highlights of this 3 week escorted tour of Peru and Bolivia include the Nasca Lines, Arequipa and the Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cusco and Machu Picchu, the Amazon rainforest and La Paz in Bolivia.

Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 Fly to Lima, arriving the same evening.
Days 2-4 Expolre the desert south of Lime, during 3 nights in Pisco and Nasca. There is a boat trip to the Ballestas Islands and a flight over the Nasca Lines,as well as other optional excursions.
Day 5 Drive to Arequipa.
Day 6 Explore the great 'White City'.
Day 7 Bus to the deep Colca Canyon, home to condors, remote communities and thermal springs.
Day 8 Continue by road to Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca.
Day 9 Travel by motor launch to Taquile island, where you spend the night with a local family.
Day 10 Return to the mainland via the Uros Islands, and overnight in Copcabana.
Days 11-13 Drive past the Cordillera Real to La Paz. Explore the markets and surroundings.
Day 14 Fly to Cusco and explore the heart of the Inca empire.
Day 15 City tour of Cusco.
Day 16 Tour of the Sacred Valley, visit the sites of Pisac and Ollantaytambo, overnight in the tranquil valley.
Day 17 Travel by train to Machu Picchu, guided tour of the site. Overnight in nearby village.
Day 18 Optional revisit of the ruins, return to Cusco by train in the afternoon.
Days 19, 20 Fly to Puerto Maldonado and continue by boat to your jungle lodge. Excursions into the forest by foot and boat.
Day 21 Fly to Lima, walking tour of the colonial centre.
Day 22 Depart, arriving day 23.

Trip Profile

Transport: 3 flights (longest 2 hrs), 6 road journeys (longest 8 hrs including stops), 2 boat journeys (3hrs each), 2 train journeys (2+3½ hrs each).
Accommodation: Small hotels with private bathroom; basic bedrooms with shared facilites, Taquile; ensuite cabins in the jungle.
Meals: Breakfast daily, full board days 19,20.
