Extending your stay

If you have time to spare you may wish to extend your trip with a tailor-made extension.  As all extensions are tailor-made, we can dovetail the arrangements at the beginning or end of your tour, design an itinerary to meet your interests, timings and budget.  On each tour's webpage you will also find a selection of extensions, which prove to be popular and work will in conjunction with that particular group tour.

Our tailor-made section has a comprehensive list of all services by country but here are our most popular extensions. Please contact us if you would like recommendations or help in deciding the extension most suited to you and your holiday.

Peru

Jungle extensions

Just a short 45 minute flight from Cusco you are in the Amazon basin.  From the town of Puerto Maldonado there are number of comfortable jungle lodges where you can base yourself for 2, 3 or 4 nights to explore the rainforest and the wildlife within on foot and by boat.  These include the rustic Sandoval lodge and Posada Amazonas or the superior Reserva Amazónica.

In the North of Peru lies the mighty Marañon river which feeds into the Amazon.  A two hour flight from Lima takes you to the town of Iquitos where you board your motorised dug out canoe for a trip to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve where you can hope to see pink and grey dolphins as well as other rainforest delights.

Nasca Lines

500km south of Lima are the Nasca Lines, and the mystery to their existence still surrounds them.  You can take a 1 or 2 night package to see the lines which include a panoramic flight over the desert to fully appreciate the shapes and geometrical lines that carve through the desert.  This extension gives you an insight into pre-Inca civilisations, and another dimension to your tour in Peru.

Ecuador

Galápagos Islands

The Galápagos islands lie off the coast of Ecuador and make a perfect end or beginning to a trip in Ecuador or even Peru, only 1.5 hour flight away.  These enchanting islands are renowned for the unique wildlife and marine life who inhabit the islands, many of which are endemic to the islands.   We can arrange a 3, 4 or 7 night cruise on a number of boats whether your priorities are comfort, route or number of passengers.  Browse through our Galápagos options or contact one of our consultants for help in deciding which cruise is for you.

Chile

Atacama desert

The Atacama desert is a high-altitude volcanic and salt lake landscape of great, and rugged beauty.  A 3 night package gives you time to explore the Moon Valley, the geysers at El Tatio and the high altitude lakes and active volcanoes.

Easter island

Remote Easter Island lies 3790km off the coast of Chile.  This tiny, volcanic island with only 3500 inhabitants is a magical place, visited for the presence of the vast stone statues or moai.  We can arrange 3-7 night packages on the island visiting the the Rano Kao volcanoe, petroglyphs and of course the mysterious moai.

Lake Crossing from Chile into Argentina

Spend a day crossing through the Andes on a series of lakes and tracks, passing through virgin rainforest with magnificent views of the snow-capped volcanoes which tower over the region.  Starting in Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt in Chile, you end the day in the lakeside resort of Bariloche in Argentina.  From here you can continue further south to the glaciers in Argentina or head straight to Buenos Aires to explore this vibrant cosmopolitan city.

San Rafael Glacier Cruise

South of Puerto Montt in the Chilean lake district lie glacial fjords and temperate rainforest, best explored by boat.  The Skorpios II navigates the narrow waters with sensational views of this remote part of the country, the highlight of which is the San Rafael glacier and the iceberg channels that surround it.  This glacier can only be seen by boat or plane.

Brazil

Beaches

Brazil offers some of the worlds finest beaches and a growing number of comfortable, characterful hotels along the coastline.  A perfect way to wind down at the end of your tour.  Please take a look at our tailor-made section on Brazilian beaches for a full list of beach retreats.

Iguazu Falls

The Iguazu Falls, straddling the border between Argentina and Brazil, cascade over a 60m high plateau.  The dramatic spectacle is considered to surpass that of both Niagara and Victoria Falls.  There is accommodation within the national park on both the Argentinian and Brazilian side and can therefore be added onto a tour ending in either country - and why not continue on to Buenos Aires or Rio?

Mexico

Yucatan Peninsula

Why not wind down on a Caribbean beach amongst the Mayan sites on the Yucatan peninsula?  Take a look at our at our Mexican beach resorts.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica has something to offer everyone.  Whether you are looking for a few days wind down on the Pacific coast or a rainforest experience in the Corcovado National Park, we can arrange accommodation and excursions as well as flights from whichever country your tour ends in.
