Climate
Suriname has a tropical humid climate with dry and rainy seasons. There is a short rainy season in December and January again from April to July.
The most pleasant times to visit Suriname are the dry seasons; from February to April and from August to November. Throughout the year the average daily temperature varies between 21 and 32&176;C.
Suriname lies outside the hurricane zone and the most extreme weather condition is the "sibibusi" (which means forest broom), a heavy rain shower that passes quickly.
Festivals and holidays
Suriname celebrate Christian holidays such as Easter and Christmas, however, as a very tolerant and multir-cultural and multi-religious society, There are several Hindi and Islamic national holidays like Divali Phagwa and Eid-ul-fitre and Eid-ul-adha celebrated across the country. There are several holidays which are unique to Suriname. These include the Indian and Javanese arrival days on June 5th, August 9th respectively. They celebrate the arrival of the first ships with their respective immigrants.
