French-Guiana

ESSENTIALS

Climate
Temperatures are tropical and consistent, averaging 27oC throughout the year, though it can be cooler at night in the highlands than on the coast. The rainy season lasts from November to July with serious rainfall beginning in May.

Festivals and Holidays
The country’s greatest festival is Carnival in February/ March. This is very animated and involves Caribbean-influenced parades and parties. Each day has its own theme and costumes are elaborate. Other than the Abolition of Slavery day on June 10th, national holidays are the same as in France.
