Landlocked Bolivia is a quintessentially South American country, and as such a favourite among our staff.. It has a variety of landscapes: the desolate plains of the altiplano, harsh desert, hairpin-bend valleys and canyons, and subtropical lowland and jungle.
Its people are equally colourful; their lifestyle has changed little since the time of the Spanish conquest.
High altitude La Paz is a fascinating metropolis. Nearby, the Yungas is a region of valleys at the foot of a dramatic stretch of mountain forest, offering hiking opportunities such as the Choro Trek.
Further north, the Bolivian Amazon beckons: the remote Madidi Rainforest Reserve has more species of flora and fauna than anywhere else on the planet.
Well-preserved colonial cities include Sucre with its whitewashed houses and the grandiose architecture of Potosí, once one of the richest cities in the world.
In the far south, the surreal Salar de Uyuni is in a remote land of salt flats and coloured lakes. From here, we can send you into the Atacama Desert in Chile.
We can combine a trip to Bolivia for you with a holiday to Peru, with both countries sharing Lake Titicaca, with its vivid cobalt blue waters and islands such as Taquile, Uros and Isla del Sol.
