Plácido Domingo at Chichén-Itzá

The Concert of the Thousand Columns will take place on Saturday evening 4th October 2008 at one of the Yucatán’s largest and most impressive Mayan archaeological sites, Chichén-Itzá.

Although the final program is yet to be finalised, it is believed that the tenor will sing 'Adoro', a theme created by Manzanero. Opera, 'Zarzuela' and songs from the Mexican popular repertory will be part of the recital as well.

The famed tenor will be accompanied by Mexican songwriter Armando Manzanero, Puerto Rican soprano Ana María Martínez and the Yucatán Symphony Orchestra.

A seven-night stay in Mexico including 4 nights in Mexico City at the Condesa DF Hotel and 3 nights at the luxury Hacienda San Jose in Mérida starts from £2647 per person (based on two people sharing a room).

This price includes return flights with British Airways to Mexico City (direct), domestic flights, transfers, premium hotels, a private excursion to the archaeological site Teotihuacán, tickets for the concert (VIP Gold area seats) and some meals.

The Condesa DF is a small hotel located in a quiet part of the fashionable Condesa district of the city. The grand 1920's building has been restored to its original elegance while adding quirky modern features. There is also a ground floor restaurant and a rooftop terrace overlooking Parque España with a bar, Jacuzzi and sauna.

The Hacienda San Jose is a former nobleman's estate located an hour's drive from Merida. Fully restored in 1997, the buildings, workshops and offices have been tastefully converted to provide 15 spacious suites and rooms in the garden-courtyard. Private plunge-pools in most rooms offer a hint of understated decadence with the main pool situated beside the fruit-bearing trees of an orchard dating back a hundred years. There is also a highly regarded restaurant offering dining al fresco.
